2020-2021 Progress Report for Dylan and Hudson Edwards

Our Fall 2020 to Spring 2021 Homeschool year was a success for us. Dylan completed 4th grade and Hudson completed 3rd grade. They both finished most of the curriculum workbooks and reached our goals we planned for the year. They read, wrote, did math, and music daily. They read a ton of chapter books, we did read alouds, audibles, research projects on their interests, book reports, wrote stories, interviewed friends, helped at the Maui Humane Society, went to the library, and completed the standardized testing. Most importantly, they showed a love of learning. We focused on working hard with good effort and changing their perspective of struggle and frustration into learning a new skill. These were lessons that we aimed to change their outlook of school and learning.
We have evaluated and reviewed our workbooks, annual goals and what their grade level needs to know to be sure they are up to speed with the current grade before moving forward. They are ready to start the Summer Bridge Brain Quest workbooks and finish the remaining curriculum for the summer and start 4th and 5th grade in the fall. Below and attached are some of their work. The Flash Kids complete curriculum, Kumon Math, and the subject specific smaller workbooks were their favorite workbooks that we will use again.
Lang & Lit - Flash Kids Complete Curriculum (finished in Dec), Brain Quest, Reading Fundamentals and Comprehension workbooks. Reading daily. Reading chapter books and series, Grader Needs to Know, library books, speech class series, letters, reports, reading nonfiction books, writing stories, making books, book clubs outschool.
Math - Flash Kids Complete Curriculum (finished in Dec) and Brain Quest workbooks. Math daily. Reading math books, focus on multiplication and division, focus on neatness and organization, kidpreneur class, piggybank, Kumon workbooks (Hudson - multiplication, add/subtraction, math skill outschools) (Dylan - multiplication, division, fractions/decimals, math tutor)
Writing - Flash Kids Complete Curriculum (finished in Dec) and Brain Quest workbooks, Grader Needs to Know book. Writing daily with good penmanship. Focus on spacing, spelling, indention, details, capital and punctuation. Penmanship and writing outschools.
History/Science - Trip around the world, private history outschool, maps, states, scientists and famous people, climate change, nutrition, animals, DK workbooks, Grader Needs to Know book.
Specials - Daily Outschool classes from core curriculum, specific interest, skills, and social club classes.
