Mr Big Guy OG

Well..we now have 4 cats 😻😻😻😻long story but Thursday the owner surrendered him.

Found him Monday morning at Hookipa following tourist down the road at the entrance.  Not sure why but I quickly jumped out of the truck, asked if it was theirs and then it followed me around. So, of course I brought it home. Not sure what made me jump out of the truck so quickly....

you don't see stray cats there so I intuitively knew he was not suppose to be there.

He let me pick him up and carry him while I figured out what I was gonna do. So he road home in my lap excitedly looking out the window the whole ride home. He fit right in like he owned the place, loving on Shelby, not being aggressive at all to anyone!

He is super friendly, loving, gets along with the other cats, dogs and the crew.

Took him in Tuesday and he is chipped and neutered. They almost didn’t let me bring him home bc was a new lady but I was able to finally. Long story….guess he is a wanderer from Lahaina!!! There were many people involved. The owner lost her pet friendly home in Jan 😿and another lady took him on. She is the one I was dealing with. She has 40 cats and he didn’t get along with them and wandered so a neighbor took over and she gave them food so they would feed him. He got in their truck and he came to surf and somehow he got out at hookipa! Poor guy! He just somehow fit right in. She was wanting me to hang on to him while they figured out his situation, so of course I let her know he was happy over here and wanted what was best for him and somehow we were happy to adopt him. Today they decided to let us keep him. Cat stars somehow aligned. 😻⭐️he is super chill and not aggressive at all towards our crew? Bella is super mad and sharky is getting better. Maybe it is the honeymoon phase but we love him.

Super sad bc those peeps lost their apartment and home in the fire. His vet also lost his business so no records. She wouldn’t let me make a donation to her and I know she is a cat rescuer bc I looked her up!

So............
Meet Mr. Big Guy O.G. For original gangster bc he walks around like he has been here before, been through it all and owns the place. Sad bc he has prob been through a lot.

What is going on???

Just hanging out.

This is a great book! Mr. Professor.

Yep, making myself at home!

Shelby approves.

Bella is P.O...ed!!!! He doesn't seem to care...lounging on the window seal.

and he doesn't care.

I think I fit in nicely here.

Digging the love.

Has he been here before????
Looks like one of our kittens but the markings are just a little bit off.

Off to the shelter.
He almost didn't fit in the box! We had to hold the bottom so he didn't fall out.

Whew, I got to come back.

Getting them to love each other....the magic of treats!

He LOVES treats!

So long!

He is huge! Probably 12-15lbs and 1.5-2x Sharky.

Sharky helping me blog. LOVE this little guy.

No more....we cannot be outnumbered!!!
I stopped fostering the kittens a while back so maybe this guy was to confirm that we are complete
and no more fostering for now.....

HS Historical Fiction

Dylan's high school historical fiction final project. Again, great writing!!! Fun to read.

Hi Dylan!

One bright salem Massachusets day, and John Procter is striding along a dirt road on his usual neighborhood walk when he hears a young womans voice screaming beyond a low stone wall. The wall, made of dark grey stones about the size of two Jhon hands and circles a small wooden house.  He, naturally, is concerned for the girl and vaults over the wall, almost snagging his foot on a protruding rock. On the other side of the wall lies a young woman who looks to be around 16 years old, convulsing randomly while screaming. When she sees John, a look of horror slides upon her face. John bends down and starts to calmly ask the girl if she is alright when she suddenly starts to scramble away from him. Another young woman peeks around the corner. John doesnt notice the look of shock on her face as he says to her "you there, the young lady, couldst thou assist me in helping this poor soul? She appears to have an ailment of sorts." The young lady starts to walk forward as she says wearily "s-s-sh-shu-shure." As she starts to near Jhon, her eyes cross and she starts blabbering about spirits, then collapses at Jhons feet. The fist girl gasps and starts to yell for help, saying "Help! Saten is taking me!" "I am not Saten, I am checking upon ye young women who appeared to be sick" Niether see the constable approaching, and upon his arrival says in a booming voice: "What is going on here!?" John starts to say "Sir, these young wome..." and is cut off by the somehow conscious second girl saying in a terrified voice "Mister, this m-m-man is s-s-aten is disguise." The constable peers skeptically at John as he says "Saten eh? How doth I know thy isnt a fake? I sure hath been arresting a lot of supposed 'devils and demons' lately" A look of shock crosses the first girls face and she says"a-a-are y-ye a demon as w-well c-constable?" The constable looks outraged as he says to John "I need more evidence, but Ive got my eye on ye!" He slides his pointer finger across his neck and walks off. After a moment,  Jhon gets up wearily and starts to cross his 300 acres of land towards his house. Upon his arrival, he tells his wife and servant (Marry Warren)  what happened whilst they eat supper.

Your expansions are working well here!

The next day, John is tending to the house when he hears more faint, muffled screaming coming from a barn adjacent to the house. He runs over to investigate only to find Marry Warren yelling an invisible being. "Mary, what are ye doing?" when John doesnt get a response, so he walks to the far end of the barn, toward the horses stalls, and grabs one of the whips. "I will whip ye if ye keep ignoring me!" This finally gets to Mary and she says hurriedly, "No! please no! Saten is haunting this town!" John looks exsasperated as he helps her to the house. He says threateningly "If I see one more sign of ye being 'afflicted', I will whip ye hard." Mary just nods and looks embarrassed.

That's one way to tame the spirits.

Later that day, Jhon arrives at his tavern, looking to spread the word of the "afflicted." Upon entering, He sits down with a group of two, whose names are James and Benjamin. He immediately starts to whisper and says "so, what have ye heard of these 'afflicted'? I hear thy are faking thy...conditions." Benjamin sighs and says: "Aye, I feel the same way as ye, but you just cant go around the town saying things like that, they could turn on ye!" James leans in and wispers, " I have an idea, we all make some posters, we can hang them up on fences in the night, and no one will be the wiser!" John nods and walks out saying, "yea that is a good idea, just dont get caught while doing it." John leaves the tavern, makes the trek back to his house, and starts to make the posters. He makes 10 of them, all with a white background and red ink saying:

'The afflicted are faking. stand strong againts these evil doers. speak out, lets not get hung for their vile claims'

This could make for a good bumper sticker.

As soon as Jhon finishes, he starts to head back into town, and once it is dark outside, he starts to hang the posters. It is all going well until he tries to hang the last poster. As he is walking up to the door of the last house, he spots the constable coming down the muddy street and quickly sneaks around the brown wooden corner of the last house. Unfortunately, the constable spots him and runs over to investigate saying "who goes there?!" John tries to sneak behind the building when the constable suddenly grabs him. "Oi, what do you think you are doing?! Hanging up posters in the night, thats mighty suspicious." The constable wrestles the poster out of John's hands and reads the contents. "hmm, I agree with thee, but lets see what the captain has to say." He drags John roughly through the muddy street to the constables building. As they near the big, square wooden barracks, the gate swings open to admit Jhon and the constable. The constable, whose name Jhon asks for and receives, Is Jhon Willard. Upon their arrival at the constables office, Willard shows the poster to the captain. "Sire, what do ye make of this? Do we hang this poor man, or do we show him mercy? I refuse to be the one to arrest him, and I think we should set him free. He is doing the right thing since the afflicted seem to be so obviously fake." The constable leans back in his hard maple wood rocking chair. "I aint gonna be the one to set him free else I will be seen as one of those vile witches. It is his life or mine, and since my life brings value to this village, thy goes to the gallows."

I guess the constable never heard the phrase, "We all must hang together or be hanged seperately."

Jhons face looks horror struck as he cries out " I run a tavern and I am a farmer!? I provide ye with food, how am I not more important than ye?" The captain just smiles and says, " my life is more important as the townsfolk need my to arrest thy witches like ye. Take him to the gallows Willard." Willard backs up to the door shaking his head then runs out telling Jhon to follow him. The captain shouts for the guards to catch the witches. The guards manage to surround the two Jhons, arrest them and put them in a cell to wait to be tried. A few nights later when the trial comes about, Marry Warren turns on Jhon, saying he forced her to sign the devils book, and whenWillard and Jhon both refuse to consent to being witches even if it would have saved their lives, and they are hung on August 19, 1692 on Gallow Hill. That is the ufortunate end of Jhon Procters story.

It would have been very tempting to confess to being a witch in those circumstances.

Dylan, thanks so much for this! I enjoyed reading your excellent revisions of this terrifying story.

Hi Dylan!

I shall now write this in the first person of Garrik.

Fabulous—let's check it out!

A very enticing plater of slitghtly melted goat cheeze atop a loaf of pristine white bread with some assorted fruits on the side, perfect for an elf. The large loaf of bread is dwarfed by the size of the gigantic slab of slightly charred cow meat. An Orcs best snack. It has tiny onions and little brown mushrooms on the top that look as if a human top hat sat on a giant.

What a treat it is to revisit this incredible meal again!! 🤩

Peeking ahead, I see you get into the first person in the next section. It might help ground the scene in Garrik's perspective if you use the first person right from the start. This way, we can get to see this whole meal through his eyes, and get a sense of what makes him tick.

Here's an example:

I gaze down at the enticing plater of slitghtly melted goat cheeze atop a loaf of pristine white bread. My mouth waters as i take in the assorted fruits on the side, perfect for an elf.

This is just one possibility! You might have totally different idea of how to approach it.

As the platter is set down on the table, Therions mouth waters almost to the point of drooling as he reaches for his lovely loaf and his gracious grapes. I am litteraly drooling as I grab the at the meat, plucking one of the little mushrooms into my large hands and after tossing it into the air I catch it in my mouth.

Ah! A fabulous example of seeing things from Garriks' unique point-of-view.

My eyes glaze over as I try to savor the sweet blast of roasted earthy delight. It is over in a few seconds however, and I see Therion grab a grape and bite it delicately in half. His long pointed ears shoot up in delight and he swallows the half grape, the other half grape and then a full grape and then another grape and then another grape until the whole batch is gone. Therion leans back in his chair until he spots the snow like loaf of bread. Grabbing the loaf and stabbing into it with his knife, he proceeds to spread all of the butter in the loaf.

I wonder if Garrik resents Therion hogging the butter like this?

I am an Orc, so I naturally dont show any mercy to my food. I pick up the whole slab of meat and ravinously tear at its side, using my two long tusk like teeth as sabers to rip the stubborn meat off the bone.

This revision helps me see this moment more clearly. Brava!

As the meat slides down my throat I quickly grab one of the remaining mushrooms, I know that trying to fit this enourmus parcel down my gullet is a bad idea, but I cant help it. luckily for me, the food stuck in my neck allows me to savour the taste of slightly singed beef with a faint hint of earthy mushroom as well as a slight spice of onion.

This line cracked me up and disturbed me! I can't fathom be so relaxed about choking!!

I dont care that the whole tavern is looking at me and yelling for help, I feel gentall sturdy arms wrap around my mid-section and squeeze. All that I care about is that delightful taste of perfectly roasted beef. Then the moment of tranquility is over. I cant tell since my eyes are closed but I think that my peice of beef came flying out of my mouth and straight into Therions face. I look up angerly at the person who was giving me the heimlick, "Why did you do that, you ruined perfect meat!"

Apparently Therion takes it all in stride!

The person giving me the heimlick, a human says "You were choking! You should be thankful, fool!" Garrik looks angry as he resumes eating. "Please give my complements to the creator of this masterpeice. And please ask before ruinning my meals." The human just nods and scurries off into the kitchen. I ask Therion if he is done and then we head out of the Tavern, reminiscing of the delicious feast.

Your choice of first person gives this piece a new, dynamic energy: we see even more how enthusiastically (and gluttonously!!) Garrik attacks his meal. I feel like I'd need to wear a visor if I were ever to sit down to a meal with these two.

Thanks for sharing, Dylan!
