We made it in, survived two nights in solitude minus the few day hikers we encountered during the day, and had to make our journey back out.
If you go down, you must go up.
Lets do this!
Lots of great conversation, inspiration and bonding experiences.
Oops took the wrong trail up hill about 100 feet. Uhhhh.
Boys were very disturbed about people not staying on the trail. If you don't the footprints will stay there for months, possibly years. The park encourages you to stay on the trail! Lots of people do not and take short cuts. So, the boys (inspired by uncle Kawika at Hookipa) blocked it off with rocks.
Way to go boys for being Junior Rangers!
Half way.
We stopped at the same spots we did on the way down.
This was our 1st stop on the way down and second stop on the way up.
Almost there.
Let stretch. Don't look up, just one foot in front of the other.
We made it!!!
Wow! Boys did great!
This huge pack on our backs became part of us.
We couldn't wait to make the tuna and crackers in the parking lot.
Yep, we sat on the asphalt while enjoying our lunch and bare feet!
We made it back to the visitor center.
Hudson wanted to report an injured bird we saw along the trail.
He was so upset the whole hike up about this poor bird.
His motivation to suffer and keep going.
The boys became Junior Rangers.
