Basal cell skin cancer again on Justin's face.
The doctors couldn't get him into MOHS surgery until the end of May so he elected to go get it done in Oahu. We thought he was going over in the morning and would be back in the evening. Nope!
It ended up being a lot worse and they spent all day getting all of it and then having to do the reconstruction. 4 times in to finally get it all. Then, he had to have reconstruction taken from his ear! It was so deep and thankfully he got it biopsied and he got in when he did! He was so strong to elect to have the reconstruction done local anesthesia vs. waiting for another day to go under! UGH! 10 hours later he was out of there, in a hotel room and recovering for a week before returning home. We missed him dearly but glad he stayed in a hotel to rest and recover and not have to fly back and forth for the whole process.
F*C* cancer! He has a big battle scar to show that he got in a fight with cancer, a knife, and then won!
Now out of the water for 3 weeks while the open wound on his ear heals.
Thankfully we have been staying out of the crucial sun for a few years, especially since we started homeschool. This is a reminder to continue to wear sunscreen, check our skin, and stay out of the hot day sun from 10-2. Thankfully, we are early surfers!
Meanwhile, the boys and I planted plants.
