Makawao Forest Hike

After an attempt to find this place once before, we headed out determined to find it this time!  After driving about an hour, 2 iPhones with wrong maps, and a guid book we finally found the place!  It took looking it up online and referring to directions from a local bike shop.  This place is HIDDEN but we are so glad we found it.  We had an amazing drive through the forest while we were lost and ended up in a totally different microclimate that was the same forest but a lower elevation.  Crazy how there are so many different microclimates here.  We hiked half a mile in and had a picnic dinner then hiked back.  It was a mud mess since it has been raining the past couple days but still fun!  Dylan got to mountain bike and poor Hudson didn't want to wear his helmet so he didn't get to.  There was a sign that said Helmets Required so that helped us win that battle.

Mr. Biker

Testing it out.

Can you hear the birds?

Whose taller?

Woah.  Are we in Hawaii or Colorado?

Cheese.

Little peanut.

Something not right here?  Babs carrying the bike?

Picnic time.

Someone had built a tepee.

Boys heaven.

Group shot.  Try this in a mud mess.  Was a little challenge not getting the camera dirty.

Back down we go.

Woah slick.

having a blast.

True joy.

Love him.

Whose having more fun?

We found an earthworm and a tiny snail.  So cute watching the boys get sooooo close to it.

Boys.

Does he need glasses?

See it?

Yep, there it is.  Tiny hands!  Love this pic.

Now this is how it is done.  Like son, Like Dad.

Beautiful ending to a great afternoon.
